Vidcast – The Greatest Freakout Ever

THIS VIDEO IS A RE-UPLOAD FROM OUR INTERVIEW WITH “WAFFLEPWN”

On June 24th, 2009, the hosts of Jack Gill’s Talk Radio Meltdown interviewed Steven, the “star” of the Greatest Freakout Ever series on YouTube (http://youtube.com/user/wafflepwn)

Before the live interview was conducted on the air, the hosts were under the impression that Steven’s brother, who filmed all of the videos, was the one they would be talking to. Jack learned in the messages he had sent to wafflepwn before the interview that they would be talking to “Steven”… during the live show, however, everyone learned that they were indeed speaking to the kid who was freaking out in every video, and not the brother cameraman.

This video was originally posted on YouTube right after the show, and immediately came under fire from the YouTube community. Many believed that Steven admitted during the interview that the video was staged. Others came to his defense, calling out the hosts of the Talk Radio Meltdown for not being a legitimate source.

We at Talk Radio Meltdown would like to take the opportunity to clear some things up about this interview:

- Many people claimed that the interview was fake, as we swore at multiple times. Talk Radio Meltdown is an internet radio show, and therefore, is not under any FCC regulations. The show itself is branded as an “uncensored talk radio” podcast from Boston.

- This interview was conducted almost two months after the original “Greatest Freakout Ever” video was posted. At that time, the reception to the video was very positive, and the hosts even played it on the air during the June 24th show. In the messages that Jack exchanged with wafflepwn before that show, Jack briefly explained that, during the interview, he and his co-hosts would be asking questions related to the video; i.e., what happened that led Steven to freaking out, why did they choose to capture it on tape, etc.

- wafflepwn came in contact with Jack a couple of weeks after he uploaded the interview to YouTube. wafflepwn stated that many people were calling him out for making staged videos, and he demanded that the video be taken down. However, other people on YouTube have re-uploaded the interview, calling wafflepwn’s legitimacy into play by stating that Jack Gill’s Talk Radio Meltdown had the “exclusive” interview where Steven “admitted” that he faked the video.

On the August 5th, 2009 episode of Talk Radio Meltdown, this situation was finally addressed live on the air. Everything mentioned above was summarized by Jack, and the hosts of the show have now questioned wafflepwn’s legitimacy, as well. Their opinion on this is not based on what the general YouTube community has said about the videos – it is purely based on their own observations, as several more installments of the “Greatest Freakout Ever” have been released at a steady pace.

This video is the original interview we conducted with wafflepwn on June 24th, 2009. Nothing has been changed or altered in any way.
